The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management has approved the construction of a Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Belagavi, TTD member S. Naresh Kumar announced in Bengaluru. The temple will be built in Kolikoppa, Belagavi, aiming to make it easier for devotees from North Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra to access the divine shrine.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for the annual Tirumala Brahmotsavam, scheduled from September 24 to October 2. Following last year’s overcrowding incidents in Tirupati, authorities have advised extra precautions this year. Special arrangements will ensure the sanctity of Tirumala and smooth darshan for devotees. September 28, Sunday, will be a key day with the grand Garuda Seva, expected to attract thousands of devotees. In coordination with the district administration and police, TTD has developed detailed plans, including assigning 1,500 extra personnel to the Kalyana Mandapam area.
Facilities and Arrangements
Accommodation: 3,500 rooms will be distributed offline during the nine-day festival, prioritizing general devotees after cancelling earlier bookings through recommendation letters.
Darshan: 36 LED screens will display vehicle services. Daily, 116,000 special darshan tickets and 25,000 SSD tokens will be issued, excluding Garuda Seva day. VIP break darshan is limited to physically present VIPs; other privileges are suspended.
Prasadam: Eight lakh laddus will be prepared daily. On Garuda Seva day, 14 varieties of snacks will be offered to devotees in galleries, and the Annaprasad complex will serve food from 8 AM to 11 PM.
Parking & Transport: Tirumala can accommodate 4,000 vehicles, Tirupati 5,250, with 2,700 extra spaces. RTC buses will provide 1,900 trips daily and 3,200 on Garuda Seva day.
Security & Staff: 2,000 TTD security personnel, 4,700 police officers, 3,500 Srivari Sevadars, and 450 senior officials will be deployed. Sanitation, Keshmundan staff, and healthcare teams including 50 doctors and ambulances will be available. These measures aim to ensure a safe, smooth, and memorable Brahmotsavam experience for all devotees.
