Russia strikes Ukrainian cities, three killed, dozens hurt

Kyiv

Russia launched a massive missile and drone assault across Ukraine early Saturday, killing at least three people and injuring dozens, according to Ukrainian officials.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that attacks struck nine regions, including Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Kharkiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia. He said Russia deliberately targeted residential areas, infrastructure, and civilian enterprises. A missile carrying cluster munitions hit a multi-story building in Dnipro, wounding at least 26 people and damaging several high-rise structures.

In Kyiv region, strikes were reported in Bucha, Boryspil, and Obukhiv, where a home and several vehicles were damaged. Local authorities in Lviv confirmed that air defences intercepted two cruise missiles.

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 619 aerial weapons, including drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Of these, 552 drones, 29 cruise missiles, and two ballistic missiles were intercepted. “During the air strike, tactical aviation, especially F-16 fighters, worked effectively on enemy cruise missiles. Western weapons once again prove their value on the battlefield,” the Air Force noted.

Governor Serhii Lysak of Dnipropetrovsk described heavy damage in Dnipro, while officials warned that attacks on infrastructure aimed to disrupt essential services. Zelensky accused Russia of using fear as a weapon. “These strikes are not military necessity but a deliberate strategy to intimidate civilians,” he said on Telegram.
