KR Puram police conduct road safety drive for HGV, LGV drivers

In a proactive move to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow, K.R. Puram Traffic Police conducted a comprehensive awareness drive targeting heavy goods vehicles (HGV) and light goods vehicles (LGV) drivers on Saturday. The initiative focused on informing drivers about restricted entry times into the city and promoting strict adherence to traffic safety regulations.

The campaign was held at the Medahalli lorry diversion point, a key checkpoint for vehicles entering Bengaluru from the outskirts. Officers explained the importance of observing designated time slots for city entry, aimed at reducing congestion during peak hours and preventing accidents in busy urban areas. Drivers were briefed on the potential penalties for violating the restrictions, including fines and legal action, emphasizing the role of compliance in maintaining overall traffic discipline.

In addition to time restrictions, the drive highlighted essential safety practices, such as following speed limits, maintaining proper vehicle documentation, and ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy. Police officials stressed that such measures are vital not only for the safety of the drivers themselves but also for pedestrians, cyclists, and daily commuters who share the city’s roads.

The awareness session included interactive discussions, where drivers could raise concerns, seek clarifications, and better understand the rules governing urban transport. Authorities indicated that similar awareness programs will be conducted periodically at key entry points across Bengaluru, reflecting a sustained effort to enhance road safety and reduce traffic disruptions. Officials reiterated that compliance with these guidelines will play a crucial role in ensuring safer and more efficient movement of goods and people throughout the city.
