Senior citizens, having experienced life’s challenges and contributed to various fields, deserve to spend their retirement years with dignity and happiness. C.S. Shivanagoudra, Senior Division Judge and Member Secretary of Gadag District Legal Services Authority, highlighted that if elderly individuals face problems from family members or others, the Legal Services Authority is ready to provide legal support and protect their rights.
With joint support from the District Administration, District Panchayat, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens, Women & Child Development Department, District Legal Services Authority, Youth Empowerment & Sports Department, and voluntary organizations working for senior welfare, Gadag celebrated World Senior Citizens Day 2025 at K.H. Patil District Stadium. The event featured sports and cultural programs specially organized for senior citizens.
During the inauguration, Shivanagoudra emphasized that society must respect elders, treating them with reverence and care. He noted that seniors should never feel neglected or forced into old-age homes, and their well-being should be a priority. Organizing cultural and sports activities is one way to honor their contributions.
Prof. K.H. Belur encouraged senior citizens to make full use of government facilities and enjoy a fulfilling retirement. District officers, including K. Mahantesh, welcomed the gathering and shared information about departmental initiatives. The event included prayers led by retired teachers, formal inauguration by C.S. Shivanagoudra, and the launch of sports activities. Hosted by M.C. Oggi and felicitated by R.T. Narayanapura, the program saw active participation from senior citizens such as Khandepagoudra, G.S.
