Delhi CM blames Kejriwal for biogas delay

Gupta criticized Kejriwal for delaying PM Modi-funded projects, blaming excuses; BJP completed the cow dung energy plant, preventing Yamuna pollution in 2025

New Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday criticised former CM and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for delaying Centre-funded projects, citing the seven-year wait for a biogas plant in West Delhi. She inaugurated the city’s first large-scale compressed biogas plant at Nangli Dairy, which had been pending since 2018.

Gupta said, “Kejriwal failed to execute development projects funded by the PM Narendra Modi government. He would give excuses, claiming he could not sign files or lacked freedom to act. The governance of excuses has now ended with this plant.”

The Chief Minister highlighted that the plant will convert cow dung into energy and prevent waste from entering the Yamuna. Work had stalled under the AAP government and was only completed after the BJP came to power in 2025. Gupta said, “When people asked Kejriwal about the delay, he blamed Modi. The truth is, they lacked the intent to work.”

Describing the plant as a “dream project” of PM Modi, she said Delhi produces 2,500 tonnes of cow dung daily and similar plants will be built across all 11 districts. The Nangli Dairy facility will process 200 tonnes of waste per day, generating 5,600 kg of gas to be supplied to Indraprastha Gas Limited through an existing pipeline agreement. Additionally, it will produce 30 tonnes of compost daily for farmers.

Gupta also criticised the previous Congress and AAP governments for neglecting dairy colonies and the needs of owners. She asserted that the new biogas plant marks a step toward improved waste management, sustainable energy production, and support for the city’s dairy farmers, reflecting the BJP government’s focus on timely project execution.
