North City Commissioner directs boost in tax collections

Officials emphasize transparency and technology to enhance city revenue collection efficiency.

 North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Thursday at the Yelahanka Mini Vidhana Soudha auditorium, focusing on strengthening revenue generation and improving efficiency in tax collection.

During the meeting, the Commissioner stressed the importance of expediting property tax collection and bringing all eligible properties under the tax ambit. He highlighted the role of the Demand, Collection, and Balance (DCB) system and the e-khata mechanism in ensuring transparency and accountability. By integrating these tools, officials were urged to intensify efforts to recover pending dues and enhance overall compliance.

Sunil Kumar instructed revenue officials to adopt proactive strategies, including stricter monitoring, field inspections, and the use of technology to identify tax defaulters. He further emphasized that increasing revenue was vital not only for the Corporation’s functioning but also for delivering better civic amenities to citizens. Deputy Commissioner (Development) Smt. Latha, Joint Commissioner Mohammed Nayeem Momin, and Deputy Commissioner Mangala, along with all revenue department staff, participated in the discussions. The Commissioner directed them to work in coordination to streamline processes and resolve hurdles in tax collection.

The session concluded with a call for regular follow-ups and timely updates on the progress of property tax drives. Officials expressed commitment to meeting targets and assured full cooperation in achieving the Corporation’s revenue goals. The meeting underlined the administration’s determination to strengthen fiscal discipline, reduce arrears, and ensure that every property owner contributes fairly to the city’s development.
