Officials Directed to Use Modern Repair Methods and Ensure Road Safety
Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao held a virtual meeting with officials on Thursday, directing them to accelerate pothole-filling works across five municipal corporations under the GBA’s jurisdiction. The move comes amid growing concerns over deteriorating road conditions, traffic disruptions, and commuter safety.
During the meeting, Rao emphasized that potholes must be addressed on a war footing to prevent accidents and ensure smoother vehicular movement. He urged officials to coordinate with engineers and field staff to complete the works swiftly, particularly in areas witnessing heavy traffic and public complaints.
Special Commissioner Dr. K. Harish Kumar, North City Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, South City Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V., Central City Commissioner Rajendra Cholan, and senior engineers from all five municipal corporations were present. The discussions focused on identifying priority stretches, ensuring quality control in road repairs, and setting deadlines for the completion of works.
The Chief Commissioner Instructed engineers to adopt modern methods for pothole repairs, including the use of durable materials and technology-based monitoring to avoid recurring damages. He further directed that daily progress reports be submitted to the GBA headquarters for review.
Officials assured that dedicated teams had already been deployed and that works would be completed within the stipulated timeline. The GBA reiterated its commitment to improving road infrastructure, reducing commuter hardship, and enhancing overall urban mobility. The meeting concluded with a call for accountability, with senior officials tasked to personally inspect and verify the repair works in their respective zones.
