Central commissioner inspects roads and parks

Commissioner urges swift civic upkeep, improved amenities, and safer public spaces during inspection in central Bengaluru.

Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan conducted a detailed inspection on Thursday, covering several key stretches and public spaces under the corporation’s limits. The visit included Sampige Road, the former zonal office premises, Bhashyam Park, a nearby playground, Shirur Park Road, and Sheshadripur Road.

The inspection was aimed at reviewing the condition of civic infrastructure, assessing the state of public amenities, and ensuring that measures were being taken for the upkeep of roads, parks, and other public spaces. Commissioner Cholan interacted with engineers and ward-level officials during the visit, directing them to address maintenance gaps on priority.

At Bhashyam Park and the adjoining playground, he emphasized the importance of well-maintained recreational spaces for children, senior citizens, and residents. He instructed officials to strengthen regular cleaning, repair damaged benches, and ensure better lighting facilities to improve safety.

On Sampige Road and Shirur Park Road, the Commissioner reviewed the state of footpaths, drainage, and road surfaces. He called for the swift filling of potholes and better regulation of roadside vendors to keep pedestrian pathways clear. Sheshadripur Road was also reviewed for traffic congestion points and encroachments, with instructions to coordinate with traffic police for smoother movement. Cholan noted that public spaces reflect the city’s civic standards and directed officials to prepare action plans for sustained maintenance. He reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring a cleaner, safer environment for residents across central Bengaluru.
