Engineers’ Day was celebrated with great zeal at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) on the birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase, the chief guest, praised Sir MV as a key architect of modern India and an inspiration not just for engineering students but for all, especially those in positions of responsibility. He encouraged VTU students to embrace Sir MV’s values and actively contribute to the nation’s development.
Borase stressed the need to complement textbook learning with practical skills and encouraged students to focus on holistic development. You are at a crucial stage of life. Lead a simple and disciplined student life, avoid superficial attractions, stay away from substance abuse, and adopt a healthy lifestyle, he advised.
Registrar Prof BE Rangaswamy, Registrar (Evaluation) Prof TN Sreenivasa, Prof SA Angadi, Prof Vivek Reddy, Prof Ranjana Nadgoudar, Finance officer Dr G Prashant Nayak and other faculty members were present.
VTU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Vidyashankar highlighted the university’s efforts to groom well-rounded graduates through several initiatives and the establishment of Centres of Excellence. He underlined the university’s commitment to nurturing technical knowledge alongside ethical values and leadership qualities.
