Valmiki Jayanti Celebration

Ch’ballapur to celebrate Valmiki Jayanti with grand festivities

The district administration has announced that the district-level celebrations of Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti will be held on October 7 at Kannada Bhavan in Chikkaballapur, marked by enthusiasm and cultural significance, said District Commissioner P.N. Ravindra.

Presiding over a preparatory meeting at the S.M. Vishweshwarayya Hall in the District Panchayat on Tuesday, Ravindra consulted community leaders for suggestions to ensure the celebrations are inclusive and impactful. He instructed officials to organize workshops or awareness programs in the last week of September to familiarize Scheduled Caste communities with government schemes and facilities.

On the Jayanti day, a grand procession will start from Sriranganath Swamy Temple in Vapsandra, moving along BB Road to Kannada Bhavan, featuring palanquins, tableaux, and folk art troupes. A cultural and ceremonial program will follow, including speeches on Maharshi Valmiki’s philosophies. Talented students securing top marks in SSLC and PUC will receive awards, while community achievers across various fields will be felicitated.

The administration also emphasized distributing government benefits through the Scheduled Caste Development Corporation and relevant departments, and raising awareness about welfare schemes undertaken by the Department of Scheduled Castes Welfare. All Gram Panchayats, schools, colleges, and government offices in the district are instructed to celebrate the Jayanti and display information on government schemes prominently.

To ensure a successful event, committees have been formed to manage invitations, stage arrangements, decorations, water, ambulance services, police security, midday meals, cleanliness, and felicitation of achievers. District officials and community leaders will oversee the program to ensure smooth execution and active participation.
