14th Pension Adalat Resolves 652 Long-Pending Grievances

New Delhi

The 14th Pension Adalat, held on September 10 at Vigyan Bhawan, successfully resolved 652 long-pending grievances of super senior and family pensioners, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions said on Tuesday. Chaired by Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh (Independent Charge), the Adalat aimed to address 894 unresolved cases related to family pensions across various departments and ministries.

Out of 894 cases, 652 were settled on the spot, highlighting the initiative’s efficiency in providing timely justice. Grievances came from 21 departments, including Defence, Home Affairs, Finance, Railways, Housing & Urban Affairs, and Civil Aviation. Dr. Singh praised the “whole-of-government approach” of the Adalat, which brought all concerned departments together for speedy grievance resolution.

The initiative brought relief to numerous pensioners who had been waiting for years. Among them was Kamala Devi, an 84-year-old widow from Haryana, whose pension pending since July 2021 was cleared along with arrears. Sangita Tomar of Madhya Pradesh, widow of a BSF Head Constable who died on duty, received her delayed family pension with arrears. Sakira Begam from West Bengal also received her correct family pension arrears after long delays.

Dr. Singh noted that, up to the 13th Pension Adalat in June 2025, 25,831 cases were reviewed, with 18,481 successfully resolved. He emphasised that Pension Adalats are not just forums for grievance redressal but a means of delivering justice, especially to widows, super senior citizens, and family pensioners. He further recommended establishing Grievance Help Desks in all departments and strengthening digital grievance monitoring to prevent future delays.

This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting pensioners and ensuring their concerns are addressed efficiently and transparently.
