DCP inspects Shivananda Circle to improve traffic flow

Authorities focus on improving traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and urban infrastructure upgrades.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-West) Karthik Reddy conducted an on-ground inspection at Shivananda Circle on Tuesday, accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central Traffic), to review traffic management and streamline vehicular movement in one of the city’s busiest junctions.

The inspection was carried out under the jurisdiction of the High Grounds Traffic Police Station, a stretch that frequently witnesses heavy congestion during peak hours. Officials highlighted key problem points, including bottlenecks created by high vehicle density, improper lane discipline, and pedestrian movement across the circle.

During the visit, the DCP held discussions with the ACP and traffic personnel on implementing immediate measures to ease congestion. Instructions were issued for stricter enforcement of lane discipline, better synchronization of traffic signals, and enhanced deployment of personnel during rush hours. The possibility of introducing diversions and real-time monitoring through CCTV cameras was also discussed to improve efficiency. The DCP emphasized the Importance of a coordinated approach between field officers, traffic wardens, and civic agencies in tackling chronic congestion. Our priority is to ensure smooth traffic flow while safeguarding the safety of pedestrians and motorists, the officer stated.

Local commuters have long raised concerns about delays at Shivananda Circle, a key connector linking central Bengaluru with several arterial roads. Residents welcomed the inspection, expressing hope that sustained measures would bring relief. The Bengaluru City Traffic Police confirmed that similar reviews will be undertaken across other critical junctions to enhance mobility and reduce gridlocks.
