Anshuman Jha’s First Ray Films Announces Six-Film Slate

Mumbai

First Ray Films, the independent Mumbai-based banner founded by actor-producer-director Anshuman Jha, has announced a six-film lineup as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. The company is known for backing unique stories such as the social media thriller MonaDarling (2016), the LGBTQ+ road drama Hum Bhi Akele, Tum Bhi Akele, and the action film Lakadbaggha (2023).

Over the next six months, three films are set for theatrical release. These include Jha’s directorial black comedy thriller Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, Harish Vyas’s Hari Ka Om, and the much-awaited sequel Lakadbaggha 2, which wrapped production earlier this year.

Looking ahead to 2026, the studio will begin work on three new projects. Among them is an untitled noir-thriller set in Mumbai at the turn of the millennium, focusing on twins. Another project, Bajrangi by Parth Saurabh, explores service and tradition in contemporary Bihar. The slate also features Ovi & The Monk, Jasraj Padhaye’s debut, which follows a boy’s journey across the Himalayas to return a dog to its owner after losing his father during the pandemic.

Reflecting on the milestone, Jha said that survival for over a decade is proof that audiences embrace fresh and disruptive storytelling. He credited investors for believing in meaningful cinema, adding that the aim is to build an ecosystem of honest films that last beyond him. Jha described the slate as bold, disruptive, and hopefully unforgettable.
