Dharwad
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has expressed concerns over the ineffective execution of several central government-sponsored schemes in the district. Chairing a Disha review meeting, Joshi criticised the agriculture and horticulture departments for failing to accurately assess crop losses in Alnavar and Kalghatgi taluks, noting that chilli and onion losses were overlooked during surveys. He instructed officials to ensure that all affected farmers are included in the compensation list without exception.
Joshi also highlighted multiple complaints about government hospitals directing patients to purchase medicines from the market. He stressed that doctors must prescribe only medicines available in hospital stock and provide them free of cost. In cases of shortage, officials were directed to promptly inform the elected representatives.
Expressing displeasure over delays in central-funded construction projects, Joshi pointed out that several buildings under the animal husbandry and veterinary department remain incomplete or unutilised. He further criticised the inaction regarding Nand Ghar Anganwadi buildings constructed under the women and child development department, which have remained unused despite being ready for years. He instructed officials to inaugurate and make these facilities operational immediately to benefit the intended beneficiaries.
