GBA clears long-standing black spot in Banashankari

In a significant step towards improving urban cleanliness and public safety, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) successfully cleared a long-standing black spot in Ward No. 180, Banashankari Temple – Teachers Colony 2nd Cross Point, under the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru South City Corporation.

The clearance drive was carried out on Monday under the close supervision of the civic Marshals, including both the Supervisor and the Ward Marshal. They were actively supported by the Junior Health Inspector (JHI), Pourakarmikas, and the Assistant Team (AT), who worked in coordination to remove the garbage pile-up and restore sanitation in the area.

Black spots, which are often informal dumping grounds for waste, pose serious threats to public health and the environment. They also affect the aesthetics of neighborhoods and create persistent hygiene issues. Recognizing this, the GBA has been undertaking targeted actions across the city to identify and eliminate such problem areas.

Residents of Teachers Colony welcomed the initiative, expressing relief that their repeated concerns had been addressed. They also urged authorities to ensure regular monitoring and strict enforcement against illegal dumping to prevent the recurrence of such black spots in the future.

Officials highlighted that the success of such operations depends not only on civic agencies but also on active community participation. Citizens were encouraged to segregate waste at the source, use designated collection points, and cooperate with pourakarmikas to maintain a clean and healthy living environment. With this latest action, the GBA reaffirmed its commitment to building a cleaner, greener, and healthier Bengaluru.
