Bengaluru hosts forum to enhance hospital infection control

Nurses trained in hygiene protocols to improve patient safety across Bengaluru hospitals

The Hospital Infection Surveillance System recently hosted the Infection Insight Forum, a comprehensive capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing infection prevention and control practices across the city’s healthcare facilities. The event brought together Infection Control Nurses (ICNs) from government hospitals and Link Nurses from NIMHANS to exchange knowledge, learn best practices, and strengthen collaborative strategies in infection management.

The forum featured Interactive sessions, case studies, and practical demonstrations, providing participants with updated insights into monitoring hospital-acquired infections, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring patient safety. Facilitators emphasized the critical role of infection control in reducing healthcare-associated risks and highlighted innovative surveillance techniques to detect and prevent outbreaks at an early stage.

Participants engaged in hands-on exercises designed to improve compliance with infection prevention guidelines, including proper hand hygiene, sterilization methods, and waste management protocols. Senior healthcare professionals from both government and private institutions shared their experiences, underlining the importance of continuous learning and inter-hospital collaboration to maintain high standards of patient care.

Speaking at the forum, organizers noted that empowering frontline nursing staff with the latest knowledge and practical skills is vital for curbing infections within hospital settings. Link Nurses and Infection Control Nurses play a pivotal role in safeguarding patients and ensuring that hospitals maintain a culture of hygiene and accountability, they said.

The workshop concluded with participants expressing appreciation for the opportunity to learn, network, and share experiences. Initiatives like the Infection Insight Forum reinforce Bengaluru’s commitment to robust healthcare practices and strengthen the city’s overall response to infection prevention challenges.
