Former Chikkodi MP Annasaheb Jolle has announced the launch of a non-partisan cooperative movement in Hukkeri taluk, pledging to revive loss-making cooperative institutions with the support of Minister Satish Jarkiholi and BEMUL President Balachandra Jarkiholi.
Addressing an election rally at Ghodageri, near Hukkeri ahead of the Hukkeri Taluk Electricity Cooperative Society polls, Jolle stressed that the initiative is above party and caste lines. He indirectly criticised rivals Ramesh Katti family of Hukkeri, saying, we are not outsiders in this fight. We are united for the welfare of farmers.
Jolle noted that the cooperative movement in the taluk over the past six months has marked the beginning of a new era. For three decades, a few individuals have dominated these cooperatives and exploited farmers. The time has come to teach them a lesson, she asserted.
He urged voters to support his panel in the September 28 elections, promising transparent administration and relief from mounting debts. “Through Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s efforts, we are securing financial aid for these institutions. Pilot projects such as providing farmers with transformers within 24 hours have already begun,” Jolle said.
Former Minister Shashikant Naik, speaking at the event, criticised the opposition for allegedly coercing villagers into collective pledges of support. People want good governance, not autocracy. We appeal to voters to back our panel for transparent administration, he said.
Also present were Jayagouda Patil, President of the Electricity Cooperative Society, Ajjappa Kallatti, Chairman of Hira Sugars, along with several directors and local leaders.
BEMUL President and MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi reiterated that the panel named after Appannagouda Patil has been formed under the leadership of Minister Satish Jarkiholi and Annasaheb Jolle. “We seek the blessings of enlightened voters for all our candidates. Our only goal is to serve farmers,” he said.
