Belagavi

On the occasion of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, the Eid-Milad procession was held in the city with great enthusiasm on Sunday. The participation of Hindus along with Muslims witnessed a moment of unity.

The Eid-Milad procession was scheduled for September 5. However, the public Ganesh idol immersion procession was held the very next day, September 6.

The Eid-Milad procession had been postponed to September 14, saying that if the procession was held for two consecutive days, it would be difficult for the police to maintain law and order. In addition, they participated in the procession of Ganesh idols and showed harmony.

So on Sunday, thousands of people took part in a grand Eid procession. The leaders of the public Ganesh festival boards participated in it. The procession, which started from the old P.B. Road, will proceed via Central Bus Stand, Sangolli Rayanna Circle, Rani Channamma Circle, College Road, Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle and will reach the Hazrat Syed Asad Khan Dargah premises in the camp area.

The city was filled with excitement as the procession unfolded. Islamic flags fluttered. Children in traditional attires dazzled. Qawwalis echoed throughout the procession. MLA Asif Seth said, “let us all follow the path laid down by the Prophet Muhammad. Let us respect our elders, especially our parents. Let us live in society with love and coexistence.”

Former MLA Feroz Seth said, “you sent a message of unity to the country by postponing the Eid-Milad procession so that the Ganesha idol procession could take place smoothly. You demonstrated that Hindus and Muslims are like brothers in city. Let’s continue this tradition. Let’s extend a helping hand to the poor.” Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan, City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase, Gadag District Superintendent of Police Rohan Jagadeesh spoke.
