Heavy Rain Submerges 40 Plus Homes in Balichakra

Yadgir

Continuous heavy rainfall in parts of the district has left residents of Balichakra village near Saidapur struggling, creating conditions that raise the risk of epidemic diseases. Social activist Umesh K. Mudnal voiced his concern, warning that if authorities do not take immediate action within 24 hours, residents would block the main road in protest.

Over 40 houses in a settlement beside the main road were flooded, causing severe damage. Stored grains and fodder for livestock were destroyed, and families were forced to face harsh living conditions, similar to those seen in temporary shelters or schools during emergencies.

Speaking to the media, Mudnal demanded that the contaminated water be drained immediately and the affected areas disinfected with bleaching powder. He emphasized the urgent need for health check-ups for the residents, as the risk of epidemics has increased due to the flooding. He further warned that any delay or negligence by officials would lead the community to take stronger action, including blocking the main road.

Following the complaint, revenue department officials, along with the Saidapur police officer and staff, visited the site. They assured residents that they would inform higher authorities and resolve the issue within 24 hours.

A large number of local residents, including women, gathered to voice their concerns and monitor the relief measures. Community members present included Macharaddi Boyin, Gunjalappa, Devindra Bomman, Hanamant Dhotre, Basavaraj Boli, Siddappa Gowda, Yankappa Beligeri, Bheemanna Bhajantri, Ningappa Poojari, Venkatesh Nayak, Tayappa Bilhar, Mashappa Sanjeevini, Basavaraj Nayak, Mashappa, Sabanna, and Narasappa. Their active presence highlighted the community’s determination to ensure timely action and safeguard their homes and health.
