Students sensitized on traffic rules, safety

The Bengaluru City Traffic Police organized an interactive awareness program for students from East West College, Magadi Road, during their visit to the Traffic Management Centre. The initiative was aimed at instilling awareness about traffic regulations and the importance of road safety among young citizens.

During the session, the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Traffic Management Centre addressed the students and explained the critical role of disciplined driving and pedestrian behavior in reducing accidents. The ASI highlighted common violations such as over-speeding, signal jumping, and wrong-lane driving, urging students to avoid such practices and to act responsibly when on the road. The lecture also focused on preventive safety measures, including the use of helmets, seatbelts, and adherence to pedestrian crossings. Officials stressed that young people, many of whom will soon become independent drivers, should adopt safe habits early and serve as role models for peers and family members.

In addition to theoretical guidance, the students were given a demonstration of the advanced monitoring systems used at the Traffic Management Centre. This included real-time surveillance, traffic signal control, and data-driven decision-making tools that help manage Bengaluru’s complex road network. The program concluded with an appeal to the students to spread awareness in their communities about safe road practices. Officials said such initiatives are part of a larger campaign to build a culture of road discipline, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance safety across the city.
