Car blaze averted near CM’s Bengaluru residence

Driver’s Quick Action Prevents Major Fire, Ensures Traffic Safety

A quick-thinking driver prevented a major fire accident on Windsor Manor bridge, just 200 metres from the official residence of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in central Bengaluru on Friday. The incident occurred around 11.21 a.m. when smoke was noticed coming from the engine of a petrol car registered in 2009.

The driver, Venkatesh, was transporting his employer, Sachin, from Koramangala to the sub-registrar’s office at Ganganagar when he spotted the smoke. Displaying remarkable presence of mind, he diverted the vehicle onto the bridge, which was free of traffic at that time, thereby avoiding potential chaos on the busy main road. Both Venkatesh and his employer immediately exited the car. Moments later, the vehicle erupted into flames when the bonnet was opened to inspect the source of the smoke.

Police personnel stationed at the junction promptly alerted the fire department, which dispatched a fire tender. The blaze was contained by 11.50 a.m., preventing any injuries or damage to nearby vehicles. Officials believe a minor short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause is still under investigation, and a formal fire report has been filed.

High Grounds police praised Venkatesh’s quick actions, noting that his vigilance not only averted a potential accident but also ensured uninterrupted traffic flow on a heavily used stretch of the city. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of alertness and caution while driving, particularly in densely populated urban areas. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any unusual signs of vehicle malfunction immediately.
