The district unit of Hamara Desh Sangathan staged a protest opposing the selection of poet Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate Mysuru Dasara. The demonstrators gathered at the District Collector’s office, raising slogans against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress government. They claimed the invitation was politically motivated and hurt Hindu sentiments, citing Mushtaq’s previous remarks about the national flag and goddess Bhuvaneshwari.
The protesters emphasized that Dasara symbolizes India’s culture and heritage and should remain free from political interference. They demanded that the state government revoke the invitation and issue an apology to the people, or else the Governor should intervene to preserve the sanctity of the festival.
Hamara Desh Sangathan leaders Sandeep Pillai, Manoj Kollapure, and Venkatesh Shinde led the protest, urging authorities to respect the cultural and religious sentiments of Hindus during the festival.
