Prem Kumar confirms Fahadh film, still scripting Vikram project

Director C. Prem Kumar, best known for 96 and Meiyazhagan, has confirmed his next project with actor Fahadh Faasil. The film will be an action thriller and also mark Fahadh’s first solo Tamil outing. Shooting is expected to begin in January 2026.

Prem Kumar, who earned widespread praise for 96 and critical acclaim for Meiyazhagan, shared details about his upcoming plans during a conversation with TV host Gopinath. He revealed that while his film with Vikram, tentatively titled Chiyaan 64, is still on the cards, it has been temporarily delayed. I am still working on the script for Vikram sir. That project will move forward only after I finish the film with Fahadh sir, he explained.

The director admitted that he had originally planned to begin a new film within a year of Meiyazhagan, but the schedule shifted to January 2026. He assured that he would try to avoid such long breaks between projects in the future.

Prem Kumar also spoke about his creative approach to writing. I enjoy solitude, so writing stories with fewer characters comes naturally. But now I am exploring bigger canvases, he said. Among his ideas is a survival-adventure drama involving nine characters, as well as a unique love story where the heroine never appears on screen. I don’t force innovation; I let stories flow naturally, he added.

With Fahadh Faasil stepping into Tamil cinema in a lead role and Vikram’s project waiting in the wings, fans can expect an exciting new phase in Prem Kumar’s filmmaking journey.
