Director Raghav Khanna, Unmukt Chand discuss ‘Unbroken’ documentary

Mumbai

The upcoming documentary Unbroken: The Unmukt Chand Story will soon bring the inspiring journey of former India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand to audiences. Directed by Raghav Khanna, the film traces Chand’s career from his early triumph of leading India to victory at the 2012 Under-19 World Cup to his bold decision to leave Indian cricket and continue playing in the United States.

Ahead of the release, Unmukt described the project as deeply emotional. He compared attending the premiere to walking into the first match of a tournament, saying the excitement and nervous energy feel very similar. For him, it is a unique experience since his life has always revolved around cricket.

Reflecting on his move to the US in 2021, Unmukt said he was among the first to take this step, and since then, many international players have joined the American cricket setup. He believes US cricket has the potential to rise quickly and compete with the best in the world in the coming years.

Director Raghav Khanna said he was drawn to Chand’s story after witnessing the contrasting highs and lows of his career. Unmukt was a sensation after his U-19 World Cup hundred, but later news of his retirement shocked many. That’s when I knew there was a story beyond cricket, he shared.

Produced by Riverland Entertainment and Tudip Entertainment, the documentary is scheduled to release on September 12.
