Cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri have voiced strong support for Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India ahead of the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, which begins on September 10 in the UAE. India is placed in Group A with UAE, Pakistan, and Oman.
India’s campaign kicks off against UAE, followed by high-stakes clashes against Pakistan on September 14 and Oman on September 19. The top two teams from each group will enter the Super Four stage, leading to the final on September 28 in Dubai.
Praising the squad, Gavaskar said Surya’s innovative batting and leadership represent a bold new chapter in Indian cricket. “This team is diverse, versatile, and ready to lead a new era of dominance,” he said.
Shastri echoed the sentiment, highlighting the balance of youth and experience. “With Surya as captain and Shubman Gill as vice-captain, this side has the perfect mix. Stars like Bumrah, Hardik, and Abhishek Sharma bring class, while youngsters like Tilak Varma and Harshit Rana add spark,” he said.
