Uttarakhand CM highlights development, Pushes UCC

Dehradun

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday highlighted his government’s focus on overall development while emphasizing the implementation of tough and historic measures, including the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state. Dhami made the remarks while addressing the Uttarakhand Samagra Jain Samaj Sammelan at Jain Bhawan in Dehradun.

Along with ensuring overall development, we have taken many tough and historic decisions in the state’s interest, including the historic work of implementing the Uniform Civil Code in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, he said.

The Chief Minister praised Jainism for its emphasis on non-violence and welfare of all living beings. He noted that Jain principles embody discipline, renunciation, and compassion, and highlighted Acharya Saurabh Sagar Muni Ji Maharaj’s contributions, including the Saurabhanchal Teerth and Jeevan Asha Hospital, as examples of visionary leadership guiding society through faith and service.

Dhami emphasized that the Jain community exemplifies unity, social cohesion, and non-violence, and asserted that preserving Uttarakhand’s demographic integrity remains a key priority. He cited enforcement of anti-conversion and anti-riot laws and noted that over 9,000 acres of government land have been freed from illegal encroachments.

The Chief Minister also assured that the government would seriously consider establishing a Jain Welfare Board, expressing confidence that the community would continue contributing to Uttarakhand’s comprehensive development. Through these measures, Dhami conveyed that the state government remains committed to balanced growth, social harmony, and preserving cultural heritage while taking decisive steps to strengthen governance and protect the interests of all communities in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.
