Stray Dogs Attack Elderly Man and Four Children

Davangere

In Honnali taluk, the villages of Mavina Kote and Sasvehalli witnessed a violent attack by stray dogs targeting five people, including an elderly man and four children.

The elderly resident of Mavina Kote, three local children, and one child from Sasvehalli were attacked by the dogs. All the victims are receiving medical treatment at Meggan Hospital in Shivamogga. The incident has raised alarm in the villages, as stray dog attacks have become increasingly frequent, causing fear among residents.

Locals claim that the population of stray dogs in the area has grown excessively, yet the Gram Panchayat officials and members have so far taken no visible action to control the menace. Expressing their anger, villagers have warned that if prompt measures are not taken, they will consider putting pressure on the Panchayat through stronger protests.

The situation highlights a growing public safety concern in rural areas, where unmonitored stray dog populations pose a serious threat, particularly to children and the elderly. Authorities are being urged to step in with urgent measures, including capture, vaccination, and sterilization drives, to prevent further attacks and protect vulnerable residents.

With incidents like these becoming more frequent, locals stress the urgent need for coordinated action by health and municipal authorities to address the menace before it leads to more severe injuries or fatalities.
