Amicable Settlements Beneficial

National Lok Adalat in Gadag on Sept 13 to Settle Disputes

Gadag

Following the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Hon’ble Karnataka High Court, Bengaluru, and the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat will be held in Gadag district on September 13, 2025. This provides citizens and litigants a valuable chance to resolve disputes quickly through mutual agreement.

Gangadhara C.M., Officer-in-Charge of the District Legal Services Authority, stated that amicable settlements help save both time and money. Cases resolved through the Lok Adalat will receive a full refund of court fees, and the decisions cannot be challenged in court. This ensures disputes are resolved smoothly while maintaining good relations between parties.

At a press conference held at the District Court, it was announced that 15 benches have been set up in Gadag for case settlements. Out of 20,505 pending cases in the district, 2,678 have been identified for resolution. These include civil disputes related to land, property, banking, labor issues, motor accidents, matrimonial matters, check-bounce cases, and other compoundable criminal cases. Lawyers and parties will be briefed beforehand on the benefits of settlement to encourage agreement.

Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to resolve pending disputes. In the previous National Lok Adalat in July 2025, a total of 41,012 cases were successfully settled, including 4,552 pending cases and 36,460 pre-litigation matters.

The government has also announced a 50% rebate on fines for traffic violations registered through the e-channel, valid until September 11, 2025. A special mediation campaign running from July 1 to October 7, 2025, will cover civil, family, motor accident, commercial, consumer, and other disputes. Permanent Lok Adalats in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Mangaluru, and Mysuru provide speedy resolution of public utility disputes, ensuring quick justice for citizens.
