Commuters travelling towards Sirsi Circle on Friday morning faced long delays after a BMTC electric bus broke down near Binni Mill Junction, causing traffic congestion along the busy corridor. The incident occurred during peak office hours, adding to the woes of motorists and public transport users.
According to traffic police, the electric bus developed a technical snag and came to a halt in the middle of the road, blocking one of the main lanes leading towards Sirsi Circle. Since the stretch is a crucial link connecting several parts of West Bengaluru to Majestic and City Market, the breakdown quickly resulted in heavy traffic buildup. Vehicles were seen moving at a snail’s pace for several kilometres. Traffic personnel were immediately rushed to the spot to manage the situation. They coordinated with BMTC officials to arrange for towing of the stranded bus and to shift passengers to another vehicle. Despite these efforts, congestion persisted for some time as hundreds of vehicles piled up along the stretch.
