East Bengaluru Set for Infrastructure Upgrades Amid Monsoon Preparedness
Ramesh D.S., Commissioner of the BBMP East Zone, carried out an inspection on Friday morning across key areas including Iblur Junction, Kaikondanahalli, Sarjapur Road, Wipro campus surroundings, and Sunny Brooks Layout. During the visit, he directed officials to take up urgent civic works to improve infrastructure and ease public inconvenience.
The commissioner instructed that stormwater drain (rajakaluve) cleaning should be prioritized to prevent waterlogging during rains. He also ordered immediate filling of potholes on major stretches, repair of pedestrian pathways, and intensified cleanliness drives in the localities. Accompanying him during the inspection were Additional Commissioner (Development) Lakkande Snehal Sudhakar, Joint Commissioner Dakshayini, Chief Engineer Lokesh, along with other senior officers of the BBMP. The team reviewed the condition of roads, drains, and sanitation in the fast-developing residential and commercial belt of East Bengaluru.
Residents in these areas have long been demanding better civic amenities due to heavy traffic congestion and frequent flooding during monsoons. The commissioner assured that the issues flagged during the inspection would be addressed on priority. He stressed on close monitoring of works and accountability from contractors and engineers to ensure quality execution. The inspection comes at a crucial time as Bengaluru braces for more rains, and the BBMP is under pressure to improve infrastructure in newly developing IT corridors like Sarjapur Road.
