India, Singapore strengthen ties with MoUs, skill, tech, and sustainability collaboration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong held wide-ranging talks in New Delhi on Thursday, focusing on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The meeting, hosted at Hyderabad House, emphasized expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, digitalization, connectivity, healthcare, skill development, sustainability, defence, and cultural exchanges. Both leaders also shared views on regional and global matters of common interest.
During the discussions, Modi and Wong adopted a Roadmap for the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which will serve as a guide for deeper collaboration in the coming years. They also jointly inaugurated Phase-II of the JN Port PSA Mumbai Terminal (BMCT), marking a milestone in infrastructure and trade connectivity.
The talks were followed by the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries, highlighting commitments to strengthen bilateral ties across key sectors. Addressing a joint press conference, Prime Minister Wong reaffirmed Singapore’s support for India’s skill development programs and expressed interest in working together on advanced manufacturing initiatives.
Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also met Prime Minister Wong to discuss the future course of India-Singapore relations. The visit underlined Singapore’s intent to remain an active partner in India’s growth journey, particularly in sectors like education, technology, and sustainability.
The discussions and agreements reached during the meeting reinforced the strong partnership between India and Singapore, providing a clear direction for expanding cooperation in multiple fields while deepening people-to-people connections.
