SPREE 2025: Special Scheme for Workers’ Welfare

A special registration campaign has been launched by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) under the SPREE-2025 (Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees) to widen social security coverage for workers.

The scheme, which runs from July 1 to December 31, 2025, allows employers and employees—including contractual and temporary staff—to register under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Act, 1948, without facing retrospective penalties, inspections, or demands for past dues.

The ESIC Sub-Regional Office at Bommasandra is leading the initiative in Karnataka with intensive awareness campaigns in collaboration with industry associations and government agencies. In the past two months alone, thousands of workers have been enrolled under ESIC benefits through the drive.

Officials said more than 23 awareness camps and seminars have been organized across major industrial clusters. These sessions have helped employers understand the compliance benefits of early registration, while ensuring workers gain timely access to health and social security facilities.

With the scheme now at its mid-point, ESIC has urged all eligible employers to utilize the penalty-free registration window before the December 31 deadline. Authorities highlighted that SPREE-2025 not only promotes workers’ welfare but also supports ease of doing business by simplifying compliance procedures.

Employers and workers seeking guidance on SPREE or related schemes may contact the ESIC Sub-Regional Office, Bommasandra via email at sro-bommasandra@esic.nic.in or call 080-26786391.
