Patna

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, aimed at helping women associated with Jeevika access financial support more easily. Virtually addressing the event, he also transferred ₹105 crore to Jeevika sisters, noting that the digital system would eliminate the need for physical visits and make funds available quickly.

PM Modi emphasized that women’s empowerment is the foundation of a developed India. He highlighted government initiatives such as toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awas Yojana homes registered in women’s names, free ration schemes, and programmes like Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi, and Bank Sakhi to boost income and financial independence. He called these measures a Mahayagya of serving mothers and sisters, assuring that the NDA government in Bihar would further accelerate such efforts.

Tying his address to Bihar’s cultural traditions, the Prime Minister recalled the upcoming Navratri festival and Satbahini Puja, which celebrates the reverence of seven sisters. He said Bihar’s ethos of respecting mothers and sisters reflects India’s values of dignity and self-respect for women.

PM Modi also took aim at the opposition, accusing RJD and Congress leaders of insulting his late mother. She had nothing to do with politics, yet she was abused from their stage. This is not only an insult to my mother but to all mothers and sisters of India, he said. Modi added that Congress and its allies struggle to accept leaders emerging from poor and backward families. Quoting Bihar’s saying that a mother’s place is higher than gods and ancestors, he said women’s dignity and self-respect remain his government’s top priority.
