Kannada Director SS David Dies in Bengaluru

Kannada film industry lost one of its talented voices as writer-director SS David passed away at the age of 55. He reportedly suffered a heart attack and collapsed while returning home from a medical store on Sunday. Though he was immediately taken to a private hospital in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, doctors could not save him.

David made a mark in Sandalwood as both a director and writer. He directed popular films like Jai Hind (1998) and Supari (2001), while also penning scripts and dialogues for several notable movies. His work includes Police Story (1996), Agni IPS (1997), Dhairya (1997), Simhada Mari (1997), Hai Bangalore (1997), Independence Day (2000), Mandya (2006), Thirupathi (2006), and Police Story 2 (2007).

Known for his unique style, witty dialogues, and gripping narratives, David carved a special place in Kannada cinema. His dialogue writing for Police Story, featuring actor Sai Kumar, and Agni IPS remains memorable even today. His films often reflected strong emotions, compelling storytelling, and themes that connected well with audiences.

Colleagues and friends remember David as a humble, hardworking filmmaker who always encouraged others in the industry. His passion for cinema inspired many, and his creative vision left a lasting impression on those who worked with him.

Actor Sai Kumar expressed grief on social media, recalling David’s contribution: You will always be alive through your dialogues, David. My condolences to your loved ones. Many artists, stunt masters, and technicians have also paid heartfelt tributes, mourning the loss of a filmmaker who gave his all to Kannada cinema.
