Tennis Premier League season 7 begins December 9

Ahmedabad

The seventh season of the Tennis Premier League (TPL), India’s only professional tennis league, is set to take place from December 9 to 14 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad. This marks the league’s first-ever edition outside Maharashtra, as TPL continues to grow its footprint across India.

Organized under the All India Tennis Association (AITA), TPL becomes the fourth sports league in India to reach its seventh season. This year’s tournament will feature eight franchises and top international players ranked between 30 and 50 on the ATP Tour. India’s own tennis stars, including two-time Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna, will also participate.

Known for its quick 25-point format, TPL offers fast-paced and engaging tennis action. Co-founders Kunal Thakkur and Mrunal Jain expressed their excitement about bringing the event to Gujarat, praising Ahmedabad’s infrastructure and growing sports culture.

Over the past year, TPL has worked closely with the Gujarat State Tennis Association to support local talent through grassroots tournaments and scholarships via the TPL App.

Shrimal Bhatt, Secretary of the Gujarat State Tennis Association, called the event a major step forward for tennis in the state, as it brings elite-level international players to Gujarat for the very first time.
