The Basava Cultural Campaign will be organized on September 3 under the joint auspices of the Union of Lingayat Seers, Basava organizations, and the Basava Cultural Campaign Committee. Announcing the details at a press conference on Monday, committee president Basavaraj Dhannoor said the statewide campaign, which was inaugurated on September 1 at Basavana Bagewadi, will travel across Karnataka and conclude on October 5 at Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds, where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will deliver the valedictory address.

In Bidar, the programme will begin with a Vachana interaction session for students and the public at Channabasava Pattadevara Ranga Mandira, inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma. A grand procession will then move from Basaveshwara Circle to BV Bhoomareddy College, to be flagged off by District In-charge Minister Eshwar Khandre. The procession will feature over 100 seers, 2,000 Sharana women in traditional Ilkal sarees, 2,000 men in dhotis, along with children dressed as young Sharanas. Later in the evening, a public function will be held at BV Bhoomareddy College, followed by a performance of the play Jangamadege by the Shivasanchara Sanehalli troupe.

More than 50,000 people from different organizations and community groups are expected to participate in the campaign, Dhannoor added.
