‘Jugnuma’ Trailer Released, Promises Engaging Storyline

The trailer of Jugnuma, a film that blends folklore, memory, and magical realism, has finally been released. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Raam Reddy, the movie will hit theatres on September 12, 2025. It is produced by Pratap Reddy, Sunmin Park, Juhi Agarwal, and Raam Reddy, with support from noted names like Guneet Monga Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. Leading Indian filmmakers such as Vetri Maaran, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Raj B Shetty, and Nag Ashwin have also backed the project, making it a highly anticipated release in Indian independent cinema.

Set in the Himalayan highlands of the late 1980s, the story follows Dev, an orchard owner played by Manoj Bajpayee. His life changes drastically when the trees in his orchard begin to catch fire without explanation. As Dev seeks answers, he is drawn into a world of generational trauma, village myths, and mystical events where reality and fantasy merge.

Raam Reddy, who earlier directed the acclaimed Thithi, has shot the entire film on celluloid to create a timeless and textured look. Jugnuma has already impressed internationally, winning Best Film at the Leeds International Film Festival 2024 and the Special Jury Prize at MAMI, besides earning praise at the Berlin Film Festival for its poetic storytelling and striking visuals.

The cast also includes Priyanka Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, Tillotama Shome, Hiral Sidhu, and Awan Pookot. With its haunting trailer and strong creative backing, Jugnuma is set to be one of the most talked-about films of 2025.
