Special Cooperative Training Camp Inaugurated in Gadag

Gadag

A one-day special cooperative training camp for presidents, vice-presidents, and one director from primary agricultural cooperative societies of Rona and Gajendragad taluks was jointly organized by the Cooperation Department, Karnataka State Cooperative Consumers’ Federation, District Cooperative Union, and KCC Bank, Dharwad.

The programme was inaugurated by GP Patil, President of the Karnataka State Cooperative Consumers’ Federation and Director of KCC Bank. He emphasized the rising cases of money laundering in primary cooperative societies and stressed the importance of the roles of association presidents and board directors. Patil highlighted that the camp’s lectures, conducted by experienced cooperative and departmental officers, would help elected representatives discharge their responsibilities more effectively and encouraged participants to make the most of the training.

Former KCC Bank Director CK Malshetty noted that the National Cooperative Policy-2025, unveiled by the Union Minister, aims to revive India’s rural economy through cooperative institutions and establish model cooperative villages. Supported by NABARD, these villages will showcase the potential of modern, technology-driven, community-owned cooperative institutions. Malshetty added that the growth of the cooperative sector relies on raising awareness and instilling cooperative consciousness among members, thereby fostering institutional development.

Senior cooperative official Megharaja stated that cooperative principles promote equality and economic empowerment, enabling smallholders, farmers, traders, and retail sellers to progress socially, economically, educationally, and professionally, while equipping the sector to compete with both public and private enterprises.
