Punjab women losing faith, turning to Haryana: Nayab Singh

Saini accused Congress of misleading voters with unreliable manifestos, comparing its promises to Chinese goods, and praised PM Modi’s “guarantee” for assured delivery and trust

Chandigarh
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said women in Punjab have lost trust in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and are now looking towards Haryana with hope. He accused AAP of following the same path as the Congress, which, he claimed, earlier “hollowed out Punjab” by not fulfilling election promises.

CM Saini was addressing the media after the Haryana Cabinet approved the Deendayal Laado Laxmi Yojana, under which eligible women above 23 years of age will receive Rs 2,100 monthly assistance. He said the scheme shows Haryana’s commitment to its Sankalp Patra pledges.

He added that people in Punjab have realised Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only leader who delivers on promises, while AAP has failed on all three governance fronts.

Criticising Congress, Saini said the party misleads people with manifestos during elections and later forgets them. “Congress’ guarantees are like Chinese goods, with no reliability,” he remarked, contrasting it with PM Modi’s “guarantee” of delivery.

He alleged that AAP too had promised women financial aid during elections in Punjab but failed to provide it. In comparison, Haryana, despite elections being far away, continues implementing welfare measures.

Saini also highlighted that Modi-led governments in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana are fulfilling every promise. Responding to a query, he said parties like Congress raise issues but cannot explain why similar promises made in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh remain unfulfilled.

The Chief Minister claimed women in Punjab now believe Haryana is moving ahead in welfare while their own state government has disappointed them.
