BJP workers, led by MLA CC Patil along with several mutt leaders, staged a massive protest at Shivaji Circle in Naragund town, blocking the Hubballi-Vijayapura National Highway to express anger over the Dharmasthala case and the state government’s handling of it.
Speaking at the protest, MLA CC Patil said the SIT had carried out its work, but alleged that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government was attempting to undermine Hindu culture and religious institutions. “It is being heard that a Congress MP is behind this case. The NIA should take over the investigation,” he demanded.
Patil called for vigilance in protecting Hinduism, urging people to set aside party differences and support what he described as a “religious war for the survival of faith.” He announced a major gathering at Dharmasthala on September 1, with participation from people across 224 constituencies.
Patil also criticized government regulations, noting that while Maharashtra funds 1,800 public Ganpati installation boards, Karnataka requires special permission for Ganpati installations and DJ usage.
Several religious leaders, including Siddalinga Shivacharya of Hiremath, Guru Siddhaveera Shivayogi Shivacharya of Patrivanmath, and Shantalinga Swamiji of Bhairanahatti, expressed their support and submitted a petition to the government through Tahsildar Srishaila Talawara.
Local BJP leaders and activists, including Lingaraj Patil, Chandru Dandina, Shivananda Muthwada, Umesh Gowda Patil, and others, attended the protest, demonstrating strong community backing for the cause.
