BJP condemns abusive slogans at Bihar rally

Patna
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday strongly criticised Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav after a video surfaced showing their supporters shouting abusive slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga, Bihar.

Though Gandhi and Yadav were not on stage when the incident happened, the viral clip drew heavy backlash. Local Congress leader Naushad was seen leading party workers in raising insulting slogans while waving flags.

Calling the episode “extremely shameful,” the BJP said, “From the platform of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s yatra, indecent language was used against PM Modi’s late mother. Politics has never seen such depravity.” The party alleged that both leaders earlier insulted Bihar by inviting outsiders who had spoken against the state, and now allowed abusive chants.

Union Minister Nityanand Rai linked the incident to the Congress and RJD’s past scams, saying leaders raised in such environments “cannot speak about values.” He added that insulting Modi, “the saviour of the poor,” will only backfire.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary called it a “shameful day for democracy,” accusing the Opposition of spreading hatred. Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishvas Sarang too slammed Congress, saying Rahul Gandhi talks of the Constitution but “shattered political norms” by allowing such conduct.

BJP leaders demanded apologies, warning that Bihar’s public will deliver a strong political response. “Even if Rahul and Tejashwi beg forgiveness a thousand times, people will not forgive,” the BJP declared.

The controversy has escalated tensions as Bihar politics heads into a sharper battle.
