Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Gitte Madhav Vitthal Rao announced that a house-to-house survey will begin on September 20 to collect social and educational data of all categories of citizens, with the work to be completed by October 7.
Presiding over a meeting organized by the Backward Classes Commission on Tuesday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office conference hall, he said that master trainers, supervisors, and enumerators will be appointed for the task.
He emphasized that the survey must be conducted thoroughly to ensure that no individual or family—whether Devadasi, living in houses, or forest areas—is left out. Awareness should be maintained to avoid confusion or issues during the process, he added.
The survey will include the preparation and mapping of a house list, enabling complete enumeration, serial numbering, and systematic coverage. Since all houses in the state are connected to electricity, surveyors will use the RR meter numbers to identify every house and ensure no household is excluded. This will support a more systematic and scientific implementation in the second phase.
The survey is scheduled during the Dasara vacation period (September 22–October 7), making it easier to complete since schools will be closed.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sheelwant Shivakumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Abhishek, Backward Classes Welfare Officer Renukadevi, Social Welfare Department Joint Director Nagaraj, DDPI Kotresh, and other district and taluk-level officials from various departments were present.
