BBMP urges residents to segregate waste, cooperate with revised system, and help maintain cleaner Bengaluru.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has revised the schedule for door-to-door garbage collection across the city to improve efficiency and public convenience. Effective immediately, garbage auto tippers will now be scanned for attendance between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., an hour earlier than the previous timing of 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
The adjustment aims to align waste collection with residents’ daily routines, allowing households to dispose of solid waste before leaving for work. Authorities hope that the change will also reduce instances of littering and prevent the formation of “black spots” in various city wards.
BBMP officials emphasized that this measure is part of a broader effort to enhance cleanliness and service quality across Bengaluru. Residents’ cooperation is crucial for the successful implementation of the revised schedule. Civic authorities have appealed to the public to ensure that garbage is segregated and placed out for collection on time to facilitate smooth operations.
Kari Gowda, Chief Executive Officer of the BBMP Solid Waste Management Department, urged citizens to support the new system for better city hygiene and smoother waste management. Regular monitoring of auto tippers and adherence to the updated schedule is expected to reduce delays and improve the overall efficiency of the collection system.
BBMP officials also noted that periodic revisions to operational timings are essential to meet the growing demands of a rapidly urbanizing city while maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Residents are encouraged to stay informed of future updates through official BBMP channels.
