Naqvi criticized INDIA’s vice-presidential nominee as “tainted,” contrasting with NDA’s candidate representing social, political, and financial stability, questioning opposition’s credibility
New Delhi
Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Opposition parties, accusing them of running a campaign to defame Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014. His remarks came soon after an FIR was filed in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur against RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly posting derogatory comments against the Prime Minister on social media.
Naqvi, speaking to IANS, said the “Modi-bashing brigade” has continuously tried to spread misinformation and insults against the Prime Minister. He stressed that despite these attacks, Modi has remained focused on building a strong nation. Naqvi also claimed that such campaigns were not limited to domestic politics but were at times supported by “international players.” However, he pointed out that the BJP and PM Modi have repeatedly defeated such attempts through successive electoral victories.
The FIR against Tejashwi Yadav was lodged at Sadar Bazar police station following a complaint by Shilpi Gupta, president of BJP Mahila Morcha’s Shahjahanpur Metropolitan unit. The complaint accused Yadav of making “indecent and derogatory remarks” through his social media account.
Naqvi also criticised the Opposition bloc, INDIA, over its choice of candidate for the upcoming vice-presidential election. Without naming, he described their nominee as “tainted,” claiming the coalition had failed to project a credible alternative. He contrasted this with the NDA’s candidate, whom he described as representing social, political, and financial stability.
“The Opposition has brought forward a candidate already carrying a stain, while NDA’s candidate reflects strength and vision,” Naqvi remarked, adding that the contest itself was “not even symbolic.”
