Kathak Dance presents Annual Workshop & Cultural Programme

Nritya Nikunj Institute for Kathak Dance, founded in 2016 by eminent Kathak exponent Dr. Ruma Shil, hosted its much-anticipated Annual Kathak Workshop and Cultural Programme at the prestigious Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru. This year, the institute had the rare honour of inviting Smt. Paramita Maitra — one of the foremost exponents of Kathak today — to conduct a three-day intensive workshop. With her unmatched artistry, she guided students through the intricacies of rhythm, abhinaya, and traditional compositions, leaving a lasting impression on their learning journey.The celebrations culminated in a grand cultural programme dedicated to Krishna Janmashtami and India’s Independence Day, weaving together devotion and patriotism. Students of the institute presented soulful performances — abhinaya pieces portraying the divine leelas of Lord Krishna, alongside vibrant choreographies evoking the spirit of freedom.On the occasion, Dr. Ruma Shil, Founder-Director of Nritya Nikunj, remarked:“Our endeavour has always been to create a platform where Kathak is nurtured with sincerity and discipline, while connecting young dancers with the timeless essence of our culture.
