The Malayalam thriller Kalamkaval, starring Mammootty and Vinayakan, is once again in the spotlight with the release of a striking new poster. The film, which completed shooting in November 2024, has kept fans curious about its release date. Now, with promotional activities kicking off, the wait for updates seems almost over.
The freshly unveiled poster carries the tagline The Venom Beneath. It shows Mammootty seated at the centre of a blood-red spider web, holding a cigarette with a sly smile. His confident yet chilling expression exudes menace, while the web itself reveals faint outlines of female faces, sparking much discussion among fans about the story’s hidden layers.
Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, with screenplay by Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar, Kalamkaval is expected to present Mammootty in a morally complex role. Known for seamlessly shifting between heroic and villainous characters, the veteran actor is said to play an antagonist with shades of grey, opposite the intense Vinayakan. Jibin Gopinath also plays a key part in the film.
The technical team includes cinematographer Faisal Ali, editor Praveen Prabhakar, and composer Mujeeb Majeed, who recently gained acclaim for his work in Kishkindha Kaandam. Jithin, notably, had earlier contributed to the story of Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup.
Though the makers have not announced an official release date, the poster reveal indicates that Kalamkaval is gearing up for its grand promotional run. With its eerie visuals and promise of a gripping storyline, anticipation for the film is running high.
