Routliffe stays World No. 7; Dabrowski climbs to No. 8
Cincinnati
Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe lifted the women’s doubles crown at the Cincinnati Open, defeating Guo Hanyu and Alexandra Panova 6-4, 6-3 in the final. It was their first WTA 1000 title together and their second trophy of the season. Since joining forces in Montreal two years ago, they have now won six titles, including the US Open and WTA Finals.
Routliffe will remain World No. 7 in the doubles rankings, while Dabrowski rises five places to No. 8. For Routliffe, this marks her second straight Cincinnati title, after winning last year with Asia Muhammad. For Dabrowski, it is her fifth WTA 1000 doubles crown and her first since Madrid in 2022.
In the men’s doubles final, Nikola Mektic and Rajeev Ram completed a remarkable run to win their maiden Masters 1000 title as a pair. Facing Italians Lorenzo Musetti and Lorenzo Sonego, they recovered from a set down to claim victory 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in a 90-minute contest.
The title is special for both players. Mektic, by reaching the final, joined Rohan Bopanna and Mate Pavic as the only active players to contest finals at all nine ATP Masters 1000 events. The win also gave him his 11th Masters 1000 crown, the most among current doubles players.
For 41-year-old Ram, the triumph added another milestone. He became the second-oldest men’s doubles champion in Cincinnati during the Open Era, following Daniel Nestor, who won in 2015 at the age of 42.
