Officials directed to respond to complaints, monitor water sources, clean tanks, maintain records, and ensure cattle water supply

As summer has begun, officials in Koppal have been asked to take strong steps to prevent drinking water shortages in both rural and urban areas.
T. Krishnamurthy, Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary and taluk nodal officer, gave these directions while chairing a taluk-level drinking water meeting held at the Koppal Taluk Panchayat hall.
He said 36 villages have been identified as facing drinking water problems, and in 12 villages private borewells have already been taken on rent due to shortage. He instructed officials to identify more private borewells in advance so that no village faces crisis in the coming days. Helpline numbers 9620410509, 9902315311 and Tahsildar office number 7483942249 have been set up for the public to report drinking water issues and receive quick solutions.
Officials were told to immediately respond to complaints, regularly check water sources, clean storage tanks, and maintain GPS photo records of works. They also said cattle tanks should be cleaned and filled to help livestock during summer heat, and pipelines must be maintained properly.
Municipal and panchayat officials were asked to ensure pipelines do not break and contaminated water is not supplied to households. A task force meeting at Gram Panchayat level was also directed for better coordination among departments. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Taluk Panchayat, Municipal Council, Tehsildar office, Rural Drinking Water Department, and other staff.
Officials emphasized that coordination between departments and timely action will be essential to ensure safe drinking water supply throughout the summer, and they urged all local bodies to act responsibly and inform people quickly about any shortage situations.
