MANDYA

Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy said that an Agricultural University has been established in Mandya for the development of farmers and urged them to make full use of its facilities.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Hi-Tech Harvest Hub and secondary agriculture machinery distribution programme held at Mandya University campus.

He said agricultural machinery worth more than two thousand crore rupees has been distributed to farmers in the last three years under various schemes.

About four hundred high-tech harvest hub machines have been given to farmers across Karnataka, helping them reduce labour cost and improve efficiency during harvest.

The minister said subsidy support includes fifty lakh rupees for Scheduled Caste farmers and forty lakh rupees for general category farmers which is one of the largest support systems in the country.

He also said crop insurance coverage has increased from twelve lakh farmers earlier to twenty eight lakh farmers now with around six thousand crore rupees paid as insurance support.

Later District In-charge Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy distributed thirteen Hi-Tech Harvest Hub machines to selected farmer beneficiaries at the event.

Officials including Deputy Commissioner Dr Kumar, Zilla Panchayat CEO KR Nandini and Agriculture Department officers attended the programme.

The minister said these initiatives will strengthen agriculture in Mandya and help farmers adopt modern practices for better income and sustainability.

He added that Mandya district will also benefit from irrigation development and water conservation projects under the state government plans for rural growth.

The programme ended with distribution of the machines and a message that agriculture support schemes will continue to empower farmers across Karnataka.

Minister said the government is focusing on farmers welfare through technology training and financial assistance. He appealed to farmers to use modern equipment responsibly and increase productivity while reducing costs. He said Karnataka government aims to make agriculture more profitable and sustainable in coming years. Continuous support programmes will be implemented across districts to improve irrigation, market access, and income stability for small and marginal farmers in Karnataka. He said these efforts will strengthen rural economy and ensure long term agricultural growth in state.
