Deputy Commissioner officials have been directed to conduct a joint survey of cotton and tur crops in the district to facilitate interim compensation for farmers who insured their crops under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) during the 2026-27 kharif season.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the PMFBY Mid-Season Adversity Invoke-level Committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner. According to the guidelines of the crop insurance scheme, officials of the Agriculture Department and representatives of the crop insurance company have been instructed to immediately conduct a joint survey of insured cotton and tur crops across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to assess the condition of the insured crops and complete the survey without delay. The joint survey is intended to establish the extent of crop damage and identify farmers eligible for interim compensation under the insurance scheme.
Officials have been instructed to submit the survey report to the central office within seven days. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the departments concerned to take necessary action so that eligible farmers receive the interim compensation at the earliest.
The move is expected to provide financial support to insured cotton and tur growers facing crop-related losses during the current kharif season. The authorities have been asked to ensure coordination between the Agriculture Department and the insurance company so that the survey and subsequent compensation process are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The meeting was attended by the District Statistical Officer, Lead Bank Manager, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Assistant Directors of Agriculture from all taluks and Agriculture Officers at the hobli level. The officials discussed the steps required to implement the crop insurance provisions and expedite relief for eligible farmers.
